Student Transportation Permit and Certification
The following are guidelines for use of commercial buses for
transportation of Students of BC Public & Private Schools.
-
BC School Boards and Independent Schools
maintain a set policy towards transportation, if
you, an educator or parent volunteer, are uncertain
about the regulations as they pertain to your
specific school, please review the policy with your
Principal or School Board Administrator.
-
When contacting a Charter Motor Coach Operator for
services for an extra-curricular trip, field trip,
or overnight trip, be certain to ask to ensure your
highway coach has a valid “School Bus Permit”.
-
All International Stage Lines vehicles are
licensed and approved by the Superintendent of Motor
Vehicles of British Columbia.
-
All of our highway coaches, excluding our 20
passenger mini coaches, are School Bus Permitted.
For small school groups we will extend pricing for
our minicoach, but will send a larger bus at no
extra cost to meet the School Bus Permit
requirement.
-
A decal, stating the expiry of the Permit, is
clearly visible on the entrance door of all of our
coaches.
-
All commercial buses have a stated passenger
carrying capacity. It is essential that staff using
buses establish the carrying capacity and not ask
drivers to load buses beyond the approved limit.
-
School supervisors should travel with students
on buses at all times, and students must remain
seated while buses are in motion.
-
Food & beverages are permitted on board.
-
The supervisors will establish and maintain an
accurate and up to date list of passengers riding in
a school bus that is being used as non-scheduled
transportation.
-
International Stage Lines Carries ICBC
$15,000,000,000 Third-party Liability insurance.
-
Please remember to ask for a School Bus Permitted
coach, as not all bus companies in British Columbia,
maintain the extra safety inspection that is
required to permit and designate a highway coach for
School Bus Services.

information.
